The launch of the card became possible as a result of the charity’s cooperation with Currensea. This solution will allow Dogs Trust members to make donations regardless of their location. A simpler contribution mechanism, which provides for the use of a debit card, allows for a simplified procedure to raise funds to help dogs.

Using open banking, the Dogs Trust by Currensea card is linked to existing bank accounts and will be available to anyone who wishes to support Dogs Trust.

Donations can be made by rounding up expenses to the nearest 50 pence or 1 pound in the UK. This can also be done when making transactions in other countries.

Currensea allows users to save at least 85% on every financial operation that takes place outside the UK. There are the usual fees charged by banks and other payment card providers. Members of the Dog Trust charity initiative can donate part or all of these savings.

Dogs Trust annually assists about 14 thousand animals. The charity also provides support and expert advice on training and behavior to dog owners.

Owen Sharp, CEO of Dogs Trust, noted that in the current economic realities, which are very difficult, donations can become an additional financial burden. He also stated that thanks to the Currensea card, supporters of the organization have the opportunity to easily transfer charitable contributions, round up their expenses and not feel pressure from mandatory payments.

James Lynn, a co-founder of Currensea, says that the cost-of-living crisis is a factor with a negative impact on the activities of charitable organizations. He also noted that many give up their pets because of the difficult financial situation.

Dogs Trust is the latest charitable organization to become a participant in the unique Currensea Powered by program, launched in the fourth quarter of 2021. This program allows charities to issue branded cards for supporters and increase donations.
