Gusto Offers AI Assistant for SMBs

Gus by Gusto uses AI to guide hiring and compensation decisions, proactively assess compliance risks, check regulatory updates, and create personalised insights for most business aspects.

Gusto Offers AI Assistant for SMBs

Gusto, the HR platform for managing payroll, benefits, attendance and hiring, introduced its new AI-enabled virtual assistant called Gus designed specifically for the needs of small and middle-sized businesses (SMBs).

The tool can perform a few important tasks that significantly facilitate routine processes for business owners and HRs. It can answer the most frequently asked questions about taxes, hiring, retention, onboarding procedures, payroll and compliance. The benefit of the tool is that it won’t just display a complicated legal document as an answer to the user’s request but will summarise it in a natural easy-to-understand manner.

Gus can also create reports, approve time off requests, assign teams, or even give raises on the business owner’s behalf. Such requests will be completed only upon the user’s approval.

In addition, the assistant can sort tables and navigate inputs to create summaries and insights for small business owners to make data-driven decisions. At launch, Gus will be available to businesses already using the Gusto platform. This way, they can get personalised business-specific insights based on their registered information.

The owners of a Gusto account can now join the waitlist to be the first to try the capabilities of the new virtual advisor.

In the future, the firm also plans to add more advanced features to the new tool. These include shift schedule suggestions, employee handbook updates, and custom document creation. Employees will also be able to ask for their pay stubs or benefits cards using the virtual AI assistant.

Gusto aims to make its AI tool more proactive too. Not only should Gus be able to spot the problem timely, but also analyse the situation, plan appropriate solutions, and act on their implementation directly.

“We’re excited for what Gus will be able to accomplish as we add hundreds of capabilities and skills – while supporting business owners on their journey to shift from Chief Everything Officers to Chief Executives.”
