Three years ago, Carrefour acquired Rue de Commerce, a famous consumer electronics retailer. Now it announced it wants to sell it and?focus more on food instead of electronics, Ecommerce News reports.

Carrefour is currently in talks with French e-commerce venture Shopinvest to sell its online shopping website Rue du Commerce. Speaking of Shopinvest, it already owns several online shops, among which 3Suisses is the most well-known.

The reason for the strategy change is that it wants to look in another direction by refocusing on food rather than electronic products. In January 2016, the French supermarket retailer bought Rue du Commerce from Altarea Cogedim, because it wanted to further roll out its omnichannel strategy in France. For now, Carrefour is busy cutting costs, while boosting its e-commerce investments in food.

What is more, it wants to offer more organic products and own-brand labels, facing competition from Amazon and Leclerc, another French supermarket chain.
