The largest global retailer Walmart?updates its AI-powered virtual try-on technology. Previously, Walmart online shoppers could scroll down the images of different fashion models to find the ones with similar looks and visualize selected clothing on them.?

With the new technology called “Be Your Own Model,” customers can use their own photos instead. The option is rolling out to iOS users of the Walmart app and to the web at launch. Android compatibility is rolling out in the weeks ahead.

Initially, Walmart presented its virtual try-on options with 50 model images and thousands of items. As of today, customers can try on 270,000 clothing items across both national brands and Walmart’s portfolio of brands, using over 100 virtual models.

The innovative feature is enabled by the recently acquired startup Zeekit. Its proprietary technology combines computer vision and neural network capabilities. As a result, the imagery becomes more realistic than AR-enabled shopping where a photo is simply laid over another image.
