Consumers can also use this card to pay for fuel, parking, fare on other types of public transport, and shopping in stores.

A compatible prepaid card is being implemented with the support of RBL Bank. Consumers can use the card in Bangalore as well as in transport networks and retail outlets in Delhi, Goa, Lucknow, Mumbai, and other cities in India that have NCMC payment support. The cards will be issued at metro stations and RBL branches in Bangalore.

Users can update their saved NCMC balance at cash desks or card replenishment terminals located at metro stations. RBL Bank will also install POS machines at the stations for receiving and loading cards, account replenishment will be available in the RBL Bank MoBank application.

The card can be used for contactless transactions offline for low-cost payments. Users will have access to more than 200 offers for various categories of expenses.

The Government of India officially launched the national implementation of NCMC in March 2019. Then it was stated that ultra-fast contactless transactions would improve the convenience of work. Also, this initiative will help to increase the level of penetration of digital payments, save on managing the life cycle of a closed-loop card and reduce operating costs. Extensive analytical data can be used by operators for business intelligence. Earlier, at the end of 2010, the Government of India for the first time created a scheme to ensure unhindered access to public transport networks.

NCMC is a joint transport map developed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs of the Government of India. This card allows the user to pay for travel, toll tax, retail purchases and withdraw money.

NCMC cards can be issued as prepaid, debit, or RuPay credit cards by partner banks such as State Bank of India, Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, and others. Visa and Mastercard released specifications to support NCMC in 2019.
